UTICA, NY – Oneida County has announced it is now offering COVID-19 booster shots in both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson brands at its vaccination sites.
The CDC says a Moderna booster shot should be taken six months after the initial set of doses, and anyone who received the single Johnson & Johnson shot can get the booster after two months.
“Vaccination is our greatest defense against COVID-19,” said County Executive Anthony Picente. “This county will continue to provide protection to its residents through all manner of booster shots and third doses, and continue to educate and encourage all of those who have yet to be vaccinated.”
The county already offers the Pfizer vaccine and booster.
Appointments for the Oneida County PODs at Griffiss Airport in Rome and MVCC in Utica are available at ocgov.net or by calling 315-798-5747.
Booster shots are available for those who are elderly, have underlying medical conditions, live in long-term care situations, work in high-risk areas, and anyone who is otherwise immunocompromised.
