ROME, NY -Congresswoman Claudia Tenney hosted a candlelight vigil Monday evening to honor fallen service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Afghanistan.

This includes those who served in Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as the 13 recently killed evacuating American citizens and their Afghan partners.

The vigil was originally scheduled to be held at Ft. Stanwix, but due to the weather was moved indoors to one of the hangers at Griffiss Business Park.

Tenney was joined by members of the public, other elected officials, and local gold star families in honoring the fallen.

"Each of these brave heroes left behind family,” said the congresswoman. “Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, wives, husbands, sons and daughters. Here tonight we come together as a community to pay tribute to their stories, remember their service, honor their sacrifice, and give thanks to the families they left behind."

Congresswoman Tenney also paid tribute to the 13 local service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, along with their families.
