VERONA, N.Y. -- Starting January 8th, Mobile Sports Betting is going to begin in New York State. This is an initiative that's been years in the making and is something that Oneida Nation Enterprises is taking full advantage of.

In partnership with Caesars Sportsbook, Turning Stone Casino is preparing to launch its app, on-site betting locations, and kiosks to allow sports fans the chance to place bets on their favorite teams and athletes.

"Well, if the other jurisdictions across the country; New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Nevada, a lot of different places across the country, the evidence shows there's a lot of people that are interested in making sports wagers," Dan Jones, Director of Guest Experience, said.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente said they receive a little over $50 Million annually from Oneida Nation in their gaming agreement. Although Sports Betting wasn't a part of the agreement when it was originated, Picente said this is something that will only add on, as it's slated to bring $500 Million dollars every year to New York State.

"When things like this happen, that's more benefit for us. Even though it wasn't a part of it, we'll still see the fruits of it," Picente said.

One aspect of this new addition Jones touched on was the overall danger of gambling and said there are resources Oneida Nation Enterprises are putting into place to ensure this is a fun and safe experience for the bettor.
