UTICA, NY -- The Utica Comets welcomed the Hartford Wolf Pack to the Adirondack Bank Center to end a back-to-back home stint Saturday night.
Hartford took advantage of a depleted Comets team, missing Alexander Holtz and defensemen Kevin Bahl to Covid protocols, and defeat Utica 2-1.
At the 11:45 mark in the first period, Wolfpack forward Ty Ronning scored the first goal of the game, despite plenty of chances for both teams coming beforehand.
The second period witnessed more of the same. A Hartford goal, this time by Alex Whelan, and missed opportunities for the Comets.
Little late but worth the wait.
Utica was able to get on the board in the third period as Chase DeLeo set up Frederik Gauthier who redirected the puck into the net.
That's all she wrote.
Despite plenty of chances following Gauthier's tap-in, the Comets could not get another one past Wolfpack netminder Adam Huska.
Utica is back on the road Wednesday night against the second-placed team in the North division; The Rochester Americans. Puck drop set for 7:05 PM.
