* WHAT... For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 24 inches for areas near and along Route 28 across the western Adirondacks. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Northern Herkimer and Hamilton Counties.

* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 10 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Thursday. For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, from 10 AM Thursday to 10 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous travel is expected tonight into Thursday morning. Travel could be very difficult due to lake effect snow Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow will produce snowfall rates in excess of two inches per hour. The combination of gusty winds and falling snow will result in whiteout conditions. ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THURSDAY TO 6 PM EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Long duration heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 feet with locally higher amounts possible in the most persistent lake snows. Snowfall rates may exceed 2 inches per hour at times. Winds could gust as high as 45 to 50 mph resulting in SIGNIFICANT blowing and drifting snow.

* WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region.

* WHEN...From 7 AM Thursday to 6 PM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will become be very difficult to impossible with very poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads.
