...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Up to 100 due to temperatures around 90, and dewpoints in the mid 70s.

* TIMING...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 8 PM EDT SUNDAY...

* Location...Greater Capital Region including Glens Falls and Saratoga region and the Mohawk Valley.

* Heat Index Values...105 to 110 due to temperatures in the mid 90s, and dewpoints in the lower to mid 70s.

* Timing...through Sunday.

* Impacts...Heat illnesses likely for those spending prolonged periods of time outdoors or in non-air conditioned locations. Prolonged heat is most dangerous for young children and the elderly. Car temperatures can reach lethal temperatures in minutes. Temperatures will remain very warm and muggy Saturday night, preventing non-air conditioned buildings from cooling off.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

* Timing...Through Sunday.

* Impacts...Heat illnesses likely for those spending prolonged periods of time outdoors or in non-air conditioned locations. Prolonged heat is most dangerous for young childed and the elderly. Car temperatures can reach lethal temperatures in minutes.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure or any strenuous activity may lead to heat related illnesses that require immediate medical attention. Vehicle interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Never leave children, pets or the elderly unattended in parked vehicles.

Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun...and check in on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. when possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
